Don't rapid fire them like a police interrogation on Law and Order.

The third step is to show them how doing what you want them to do, (your outcome) they will achieve their criteria. Again, this is much easier than it sounds. For example, if it's a date, and the word you get is "happiness," you can explain how your niece or nephew feels really happy when they are with you.

It's best to elicit three or four words that you could use as leverage, and spread them out throughout your conversation. Also, try and describe whatever it is you want them to do in different terminology, so they don't think you are hitting them over the head with an agenda or anything.

One way to do this is to tell a story.Somebody you know of that is very similar the person you are with, who experienced the same thing they want to by doing what you'd like them to do. If you can describe your outcome three or four different ways, tell three or four different stories. They'll think you are a great story teller, and will magically want to do whatever it is you set out to persuade them to do.

So there it is, in three easy steps. Create rapport, elicit criteria, and connect their criteria to your outcome. It will seem clunky and unnatural at first, but the more you do this, the better you'll get.

When starting your jiu jitsu training, the vast array of techniques and positional situations you have to process is huge. You will constantly be put in bad positions by your classmates and you will be stuck and unable to get out. Of course this eventually leads to submission.

Don't get discouraged, because you can survive!

A great aspect of jiu jitsu is that it is a super equalizer. The strong or speedy may likely lose against a trained jiu jitsu practitioner. The key is lasting long enough in your training to become skilled.

In a word, basics. If you become a master at just the jiu jitsu basics, you can generally prevent yourself from getting in bad positions and are able to handle yourself if you happen to end up in one. Practice these at home by yourself, and keep them in mind during your classroom training to apply them there as well. After a few weeks you'll have a basic skill level that'll really allow you to focus on learning and applying your techniques instead of a panicked defense.

What are the important basics?

Hip Escapes

Hip escapes are the grand daddy of jiu jitsu basic techniques. While training you should always have "loose hips". Transitioning from side to side and using your hips for positional leverage is critical. This can't be reinforced enough. Hip escapes (aka shrimping) are important in creating space allowing room for both defenses and attacks.

Breathing

A not-so-obvious basic you need to get down is breathing. If you gas out in training or a real life fight, you are dead. It's important to know that you CAN relax, and that you need to slow down and breathe. If you treat rolling/sparring as a sprint, in 30 seconds you will be dead. And considering a typical round is 5-7 minutes long, that would be painful! So slow down, take a deep breath, and relax.

Open Mind

Many students come to jiu jitsu thinking that their strength is going to beat all challengers they face. This type of person is typically brutally proven wrong by some featherweight with a bit of training. To accelerate your learning, open your mind to the new ideas this art presents. Work the techniques with proper form and without using strength. Understand that you are going to have a learning curve and realize that this is a journey that you can't just power through.

Ego

The majority of BJJ students are men and of course have good sized egos. Leave it at the door. You must really enjoy the journey of learning jiu jitsu and take in all of the nuances. If you insist on being the guy that never taps, you will get hurt much more often. And of course if you are injured you won't be able to train. Be open to losing while in class. Help your classmates to get better. Enjoy the journey. Become a family!

These basics aren't a fully exhaustive list of everything you need to master. But they provide a great foundation to build upon. Walk into class ready to learn, guide your classmates where you can, and train hard. This is a special martial art and it can change you if you let it.

When an individual has the ability to be completely aware of himself while dreaming, he is known to be a lucid dreamer. Thus, lucid dreaming entails passing on to the realm of dreams with full consciousness of one's mind while your body rests, and hence the subject of dream control is interlinked with that of lucid dreaming.

Thus, in lucid dreaming, you are fully aware that you are in a dream, but what is the advanced stage of lucid dreaming? Does it just end there with you being merely aware of being in a dream? The answer is no. Lucid dreaming in real sense of the term involves having full dream control where you not only are aware of the dream but can also manipulate it and change it so as to facilitate seeing or doing whatever is it that you desire.

Dream control is something that is extremely rare and difficult to develop. Even if a person, through meditation and incessant practice manages to experience lucid dreaming, maintaining that lucid stage and thereafter going beyond that requires practice. More advanced stage of enjoying true dream control is something that needs a lot of focused effort, specialized techniques, practice and experience.

The main difficulty in dream control lies in continuing the lucidity part of it. For example, if you are dreaming that you are in a desert you may be able to make small changes like the direction in which you are going, etc. Suppose now, you want to see yourself riding a camel and fighting a huge gigantic scorpion, this kind of manipulation would require more force from you, which in turn makes you wake up. Moreover, in case of failed attempts, go on trying since frustration or distress would make you wake up all the more.

Firstly, when you are in lucid dreaming and you find it hard to hold on to your dream scenes and feel them slipping away or rather fading away, the best technique to use would be dream spinning. A highly effective tool in case of dream control, this needs you to stand in a spot and spin around like a kid. After your spin stops, you would find the scenes or settings around you have gained much clarity. Dream Spinning can also be used for changing the dream setting completely.

The second tool towards dream control is that of verbal commands. Here what you need to do is to continuously affirm your mind regarding the things you need changed which you are not being able to do easily.E.g. If you are seeing yourself in a desert but want to go to the moon, just say it aloud. Hence, whatever you want to see, do or experience, just saying it aloud helps in its attainment of the same and facilitates increased dream control.

Moreover, if you are wanting to manipulate your dreams but are not being able to do so, going around it in a creative way can be a solution. E.g. You want a particular celebrity to feature in your dream but somehow you cannot bring him, you might just try calling him up and suddenly the person comes in front of you.

Lastly, another issue that lucid dreamers need to deal with is that of false awakenings. This refers to seeing yourself waking up within your dream. In order to avoid this, the best thing to do would be to undergo a reality check whenever you find yourself waking up so that you know whether you are still dreaming or you have woken up in reality.

Therefore, focus, continuous practice and the right attitude is all it takes for that complete dream control. Regular meditation and practice will result in greater power to visualize and channelize your energies thereof and the right attitude without getting too much distressed and having faith in your abilities would give you the ultimate dream control that you so desperately seek.
