The term lucid dreaming refers to sleeping in your body but dreaming with a fully conscious and wakeful mind. In other words, a lucid dreamer is completely aware of the fact that he is in a dream. When we talk about advanced lucid dreaming on the other hand, it must be noted that it does not only refer to the knowledge of one being in a dream. Rather, it entails full dream control where the lucid dreamer has the ability to do whatever he feels like in it.

Lucid dreaming is a very difficult ability to develop. In order to attain that ultimate level of advanced lucid dreaming, one needs to put in a lot of focused effort and make meditation an integral part of life. The skills need to be developed from the basic stages to the intermediate stage and then worked upon to reach the advanced stages with intense focus and regular practice.

If you are in the basic lucid dreaming stage, the technique of MILD is a good way to get yourself some advanced lucid dreaming experiences. The Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream technique known as MILD in short is based on the stimulus-response based approach.

An easy example to get initiated with the MILD technique is that, before going to sleep, stare at your hands for a long time and affirm to your own mind that you are going to see your hands in your dream. Softly and peacefully go on doing this till you fall asleep. Every day after waking up, try to recall whether you have seen your hands in your dream and go on doing this everyday. In a matter of one or two weeks, you will actually dream about your hands and at once make the link and realize that you are dreaming. Remember to stay calm and try to explore the dream settings thereon.

A bit more advanced lucid dreaming, or the intermediate stage involves increased exploration and goal setting. Thus, explore your dream by walking about, opening cupboards and drawers and looking inside and explore your abilities by testing whether you can use your memory, sense organs and the like. Set yourself goals like flying to a particular planet or remembering the response from a dream character, swimming under water, etc.

Going to more advanced lucid dreaming stages, it can be said that by this time you will be having various questions about lucid dreaming in your mind. Always remember that it is defined by one's mental beliefs, hence keep your mind open and try to find the answers to the reality. Thus, try asking a deceased person regarding his afterlife experience, attempt to learn about your past birth, travel to far away stars, get someone to explain a tough spiritual question that you have, etc.

The ultimate level of advanced lucid dreaming can be safely stated to be the most difficult to develop and usually entails activities like seeking out mutual dreams, attempt to change the course of actions of an incident that happened in reality, attempting towards precognitive actions so that incidents yet to occur can be seen in the dreams first and most commonly healing of fellow ailing persons.

It must be noted that in the last decade, extensive usage of drugs, pills, amino acids and herbs are being discovered and used to induce lucid dreaming conditions, but it can be concluded by saying that the simple fact remains that unless you possess or develop the proper mental state required, advanced lucid dreaming would be a distant dream.
